Oman is one of those countries we rarely hear anything about-but this does not make this country any less interesting. Through our membership in UNESCO’s ASP-school network, we have a unique opportunity to come close to a culture and nature which completely different from ours and very remarkable.

Academics

During the classes, we expect the learners to take an active part of the learning process and that they are interested in exploring and discussing their new knowledge.  

During the classes, we will be working with the following topics:

  • UNESCO’s history and values
  • Arabic culture
  • Islam and the different variations of the religion
  • UNESCO World heritage – What is it and which meaning does it have? Visit a Danish World Heritage location
  • Planning the travel – what are the expectations and how do we get the most out of the cooperation with the students from Sultans School
  • Prepare a presentation for the visit at the Sultans School, which will include information about religion, culture, school system and history.
  • UN’s Global goals and our joint responsibility for sustainable development

The journey

Our programme will be planned by the Sultans School and will be based on former years visits in Oman. The travel will be a combination of school visits, sightseeing and experiences in nature. All activities takes its hold in the cultural meeting and understanding of others norms and traditions.

Cultural meeting and global citizenship. School visit at Sultan’s School, here you will present you presentation, visit an Omanian family, visit the Bedouins in the dessert and dance and sing with them.

Culture and history:

Visit the Grand Mosque, national museum, Mutrah Souq, Oprea house and the UNSCO site Bahla Fort.  

Nature and geography:

Sleep at a camp in the dessert, hike at Wadi Shab

Self-payment approx. 9000 DKK

+ possible cancellation insurance 350 DKK
